Great Lakes Metals, Inc. is formed in New York and becomes one of the largest brokerages on COMEX.

Great Lakes Trading Group (GLT), as a member firm of COMEX, offers clearing to professional traders, by 2007, through RCG, clears the largest number of members on COMEX.

Great Lakes Global signs global clearing agreement with Penson, one of the world’s largest clearers as well at a clearing agreement with Rosenthal Collins Group.

TODAY Great Lakes Global, Ltd offers customized brokerage services to non-US customers. We are staffed for sales, research and eTrading support.

Great Lakes Global does not hold customer funds; all monies are wired to regulated segregated customer accounts that offer the highest level of security to our client's funds.

Our Team
William Purpura, managing director of Great Lakes Global, Ltd, Ltd, has traded futures and options for 30 years. Mr. Purpura became a member of COMEX in 1981 and has been an active participant in a wide variety of exchange functions and committees, including six years as a COMEX Governor. He is an NFA member and director of the National Introducing Brokers Association. In 1987 he co-founded Great Lakes Metals which became one of the largest brokers on COMEX. Customers included most major bullion banks, fund managers and large professional traders. Currently he is a consultant for CME Group for metals trading and Asia strategies. He has conducted trading numerous trading seminars around the world and has a network of global exchange and gold trading executives. He is also a registered Commodity Trading Advisor and has launched Great Lakes Managed Futures Limited to offer managed futures products.
John Chaisson is head of business development and technology. He has several years experience in the global futures industry, primarily as a Partner at Arctos Capital, LLC, a US based automated trading firm focused on global energy markets. At Arctos Capital, LLC, Mr. Chaisson was responsible for regulatory operations, including member firm status on the New York Mercantile Exchange (now Chicago Mercantile Exchange) and the Dubai Mercantile Exchange, and firm operations such as day to day relationships with futures clearing merchants, broker dealers and banks. Mr. Chaisson holds a BA in Asian Studies from the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont, USA.
